'Read With Me' is back!  This kit flew off the shelves and we were just now able to restock.  It is 38"x56".

Our newest kit is 'Girls in Stripes'.  It is 40" x 52".  There are a limited number of these so if you want one, come in or call soon (651 340 8263).

'Rejuvenation' is an interesting ombre with a twist from Maywood Studios.  There are only these four colors.  I wish there were more.  It is not available on the website so come in or call to order (651 340 8263).

New Arrivals

Hi Everyone,

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you my mother passed away last week.  Many of you ask about my mother when you stop in.  For some time she had been in a slow decline.  I felt so bad for her over the last few months that I am thankful she is now in a better place.  I am a third generation quilter on my mother's side of the family.  She shared with me her love of cloth and all things artful.  She motivated me to explore the quilting world and all it has to offer.  She always asked about the store whenever I visited.  I am thankful I have many of her quilts and other projects.  The picture below she made in second grade with cloth.  For years this has been on my kitchen wall.  My fondest memories will be her as a seamstress and quilter.

 

I have tons of new wool in the store.  We've revamped the store to give the wool and embroidery products their own space.  Come on in while all the colors are in good supply.  Our Sue Spargo pearl cottons are also completely stocked at this time.  'Big Stitch' starts next week!  If you are still thinking about joining us for this monthly embroidery class now would be the time to sign up.  Click here to learn more about the class.

We have a new kit.  'Liberty' placemats bring that Andy Warhol flavor to a new patriotic panel.  These are great to dress up your 4th of July outdoor table.  What a conversation piece!  They are simple to make but your guests will love them.  There are a total of eight placemats in the kit.  Kit includes pattern, panel and grunge star fat quarters.  Add your own accent color or use black like we did.

New Kits

Hi Everyone,

We have three new kits in the shop.  'Folklore' uses fabric from Free Spirit's 'Savernake Road' collection.   It measures 56" x 65" and makes a great throw.  It is a stunning quilt and I only have a few kits available.  I'm waiting to see if I can get more fabric!  I suggest you call or stop by soon if you think you're interested.  651.340.8263

We used the panel from the 'Reading Together' collection from QT Fabrics to make 'Read With Me'.  It's great as a baby quilt or for a child's room wall.  It measures 38" x 56".  These kits are not as scarce as the Folklore kits but I am waiting to see if I can get more panels to sell individually.

We love the Paint Pots pattern so much that when a customer came in with her finished quilt top we knew this colorway had to be a kit.  This kit is a 2½" strip roll.  The background is Essex Homespun in pepper.  It is a large throw or twin at 66" x 82".

I'm really really happy with all of these quilts.  You really should see them in person before the kits are gone!  See you soon,

New Kits and Quilt MN Preview

Hi Everyone,

Next Friday, the day after Thanksgiving, we will be having all of our red dot bolts on sale for 25% off, half yard minimum cut.  Buy something wonderful for yourself!

Three new kits are on the wall.  These are not available on the website but feel free to call us and we can set one aside with payment.  Or, stop in and take a look.  We'd love to see you.

This is Longevity. The picture doesn't show how vibrant the colors are in these digital fabrics.  It's a 56 x 75 throw.  I only have two kits at this time.  More will be available mid-December.  Order early to make sure you will get one.

Lucky is 57 x 57.  The curves are a snap with the Sew Kind of Wonderful Quick Curve Ruler.  This pattern is in one of their books.  The book has many great patterns to choose from.

Once again we have used Maple Islands BQ3 pattern.  This pattern is great to show off unique prints.  This kit uses some beautiful P&B digital fabrics.  The quilt is a 54 x 72 throw.

We got our first look at the 2019 Quilt MN fabric and we wanted to share it with you.  The first three prints are panels. To be sure you get what you want, you can purchase it here on the website.  It will be available August 2nd.

This is a great new digital panel from the 'Life Up' collection by Peter Parling from Stof Fabrics.  It is 43" square.

We've received several bolts of Jersey knit from Stof.  They have a great feel and aren't too thin.  When I saw them I knew they were what I wanted.

Also from Stof we have a variety of cotton fabrics.  Purchase from all the Stof collections here on the website.

New Arrivals

Hi Everyone,

We've been waiting for this!  This is 'Seeing Stars', Moda's newest variation on the Grunge theme.  There are 40 colors in this print.  Right now we have fat quarter packets available with all 40 colors. Click here to purchase the fat quarter bundles or yardage on the website.  This new addition takes our total count of Grunge bolts to slightly over 200!  And also, those taking the shop hop buses are receiving a free charm pack.  There is still room on Saturday, July 28th, and Friday or Saturday, August 3rd or 4th (see below).

We have a couple of new kits to show you. This is 'Minnesota Monty'.  He is a very fun project using Laura Heinie's pattern and technique.  Our sample is approximately 50" x 60", but you can make it almost any size you want.  

These cute animal pillows have more of a winter feel instead of just a Christmas feel.  They are 18" square.  We have kits and patterns available.

Kits - Shop Hop and more

Hi Everyone,

Finally!  It takes time to design, make, quilt, write a pattern and price quilt kits.  Every quilt we kit we do our best to insure your getting our best effort.  The first three feature this year's Quilt MN fabric.  You can purchase any of these kits on the website, by calling (651.340.8263) or stop by the store and see for yourself.  Let's face it - they all look better in person.  As with all Shop Hop merchandise you can preorder to pick up or ship after the Hop begins.

This is 'Happy Trails'.  It is twin or can be used as a large throw at 72" x 84" for  $156.99. 

The next quilt, 'Critter Crossing' comes in two colorways- purple/green and teal/red for $111.99.  It measures 65" x 80" and features the panel, border fabric and plaids.  The picture is the purple/green colorway and is a little dark.  It looks great on the wall with the dark purple and green backgrounds.

It is available in an additional colorway- teal/red.

Our table runner is 'Crazy Trees'.  It is 16" x 43" and sells for $50.99.

New Arrivals and New Kits

Hi Everyone,

We have two new kits to tell you about.  Although we no longer put kits for sale up on the website, please feel free to call us.  We can either set the kit aside for you or put it in the mail.  651-340-8263

The first is a second colorway of 'Twilight'.  It measures 50" x 60".  The first quilt was gorgeous with blues and oranges.  I can't believe that this one is even better, but it is.

We've been giving demos of the Creative Grid Spiderweb ruler since this quilt went up in the store.  'Summit' measures 58" x70".  We are having a class on how to construct these great octagons with kites.  The class meets Wednesday, June 6 from 6-8:30 pm.  Click here to sign up.

New Kits

Hi Everyone,

First off, let's talk shop hops.  Thursday, May 3rd - Saturday, May 5th is the Twin Cities Shop Hop.  Tool demos, TC Treat give aways and pillow pattern give aways are at every shop.

 

We are now taking reservations for the Quilt Minnesota Shop Hop buses.  You can register for any bus at our store or on our website.  Click here for more information.

We had fun with Moda's 'Catnip' collection to bring you these first two.  This is 'Cat & Mouse'.  It's 62 x 76.

We used soft colors in this child's throw.  'Cat Happy' is  51 x 60.

I'm in love with the colors of Batik Textiles 'Simply Primitive' collection. 'Six Stack' makes a great throw for any more traditional living area.  It measures 56 x 64.

New Kits

Hi Everyone,

One of our customers, Eve, made the 'Shearwater Kaftan' pattern using one of our double gauze fabrics.  She was kind enough to share her experience with us.  Isn't it stunning?

"Hi! I wanted to share with you the top I made from the pattern, 'Sherewater Kaftan' that I purchased last week at TCQ and the Japanese double gauze. This was my first gauze project. The double gauze is lovely to work with-it makes easing a breeze, but a walking foot is essential. The pattern specified 2 yards but I bought 2.5 to allow for matching. Also note that the top I made was 28” finished length from shoulder to hem, the 2.5 yards of fabric I purchased, would allow you to make the length up to 39”, which is dress or long tunic length. I think I was able to use the unusual pattern of the fabric in an effective way. I love it so much I want to make it again, maybe longer. Thanks for the encouragement and great choice of beautiful fabrics. Cheers! Eve"

New Kits:

This is 'Drift'.  We kitted it with regular and dotted grunge fabric.  It's quite the show stopper.  A real 'WOW' quilt.  The size is 60 X 75. 

This is 'BQ5', another version of the popular Maple Island patterns.  We used a new Monaluna fabric collection.  It is 54 X 67.

'Point of View' makes great use of Ann Marie Horner's fabric from Free Spirit.  The depth in this quilt is amazing!  It is 60 x 72.  

'Roll With It" uses the beautiful digital panel by Kari Carr.  The backgrounds are all grunge fabrics.  What great fall colors!  It's 50 x 60.

This is 'U Turn'.  It's another fun and colorful quilt for kids or cat lovers.  It uses the Cotton & Steel holiday fabrics but the quilt can easily be used all winter long.  It's 50 x 68.

And finally we have 'Charley' using the new Charley Harper collection.  This would be the perfect quilt for anyone who loves his art or just loves a good bird fabric.  The size is 54 x 65.

The quilts are on the walls in the shop.  Come in and see them for yourself.
